RESOURCES
Sustainable and Renewable Energy Systems
Renewable Energy refers to natural, continuous and inexhaustible energy sources that are naturally available.
Renewable Energy Systems harness this natural energy and convert it to provide the necessary heating, ventilation, cooling, water and power requirements for a building.
With strict government energy regulations set to become more onerous, such as:
- Enhancements to Part L of the building regulations
- The requirement of the Planning Policy Statement to increase the use of energy generated from renewable sources
- Buildings to be given a performance targets and certification
- Dwelling to be provided with information packs
Kimpton can work closely with you to provide advice as well as design, install, monitor energy consumption and maintain, all with a focus on proving high efficiency, low energy consumption, low running costs and minimum environmental impact.
ENERGY HIERACY

Kimpton advise and make recommendations in recognition of the energy hierarchy.
In order to reduce the carbon footprint it is important that a simple energy hierarchy is used, whether it be for a new or an existing building.
The energy hierarchy demonstrates that the design of a building and the associated services should help to reduce the need for energy and as such has the most significant affect on a building’s carbon foot print.
Secondly the building and associated services should be operated, controlled and maintained to ensure energy is utilised most efficiently.
Our expertise in low-carbon building services can help you achieve your energy efficiency aims and meet Government targets.
GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION

Does your building and the associated services systems meet with the governments expectations for energy efficiency and are you looking to take advantage of future changes in energy tariffs?
GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES - ECOTRICITY
With renewable obligation certificates set to be withdrawn, the implementation of Feed-in- Tariffs are seen as providing the long term incentive for Clients to consider and invest in Renewable and Micro-generation technologies.
Under the Feed-in Tariffs (FiTs) proposals energy providers are obligated to buy electricity generated from renewable sources at above market rates.
This initiative has been widely argued to be the most efficient and effective way of supporting low carbon - renewable and micro-generation technology as well as accelerating the progress toward achieving zero carbon in all buildings in 2050.
Depending on usage and the amount of power generated this initiative is reported to have the potential to halve the payback period for many microgeneration systems.
